TOWN play-off hero Lee Fowler has today been transfer-listed by mutual consent.

The 21-year-old midfielder - who has 18 months of his Galpharm contract to run - wants first-team football and, ideally, to move nearer his family in South Wales.

Manager Peter Jackson feels Town have enough emerging midfielders to allow Fowler to leave, so his name has been circulated for transfer or loan to all Coca-Cola League clubs.

The news comes on the day Jackson confirmed Michael Collins would be in the squad for Saturday's vital clash with Blackpool, when the manager could field one of the youngest sides in Town history.

"There are no problems between Lee and anyone at the club," said Jackson, who found out striker Andy Booth will be sidelined for two to three weeks after watching the Reserves beat Darlington 1-0 yesterday

"Lee wants to be nearer his family if possible and he's frustrated at not getting a regular first-team place this season.

"With him being in the Wales Under 21 side and wanting to push into the full national squad, he knows it's unlikely to happen playing in our Reserves.

"We've talked things over and decided to circulate his name, and we obviously wish Lee all the best in the future.

"Everyone knows he has had his disciplinary problems with us and it's fair to say he hasn't had a run in the senior side, but he will always have a place in the hearts of the fans because of those wonderful scenes in Cardiff last May when he scored the winning penalty in the play-off final shoot-out."

Fowler has made 53 appearances in all competitions since signing from Coventry (initially on loan and then on a free) in July 2003.

He was on the bench at the Millennium Stadium (in his home city) before his moment of glory against Mansfield last summer and gave up drinking in an effort to improve his overall fitness and try and establish himself at Town.

Meanwhile, a scan yesterday confirmed Booth's lay-off and he will be hoping to return in time for the derby at Bradford on Saturday, March 5.

"Both Junior Mendes and Andy have small tears in their groins and it means two to three weeks of recuperation," said Jackson, who may well now partner John McAliskey with loan man Luke Beckett up front against Blackpool.

"It's a blow, but we've got lads who are keen to step up and accept the challenge ."
