FIRED-UP loan signing Lee Fowler reckons Town will deliver a Carling Cup upset against Derby County.

Peter Jackson's new-look squad tackle the First Division Rams in the first round at the McAlpine on Tuesday (7.45).

While ex-Town men Lee Morris and Gianfranco Labarthe will be looking for a Derby win - the Peruvian teenager is now calling himself Tome - the 20-year-old Fowler believes Town have a strong chance.

"I fancy us against Derby, I really do," said the Coventry midfielder, who will link up with Wales Under 21s to travel to Serbia and Montenegro after next Saturday's trip to Boston United.

"I played against Derby twice last year and they weren't the greatest First Division side.

"I know there have been some changes there, but with the way we are playing and the fact that the confidence among the lads is really high, I genuinely think we've got a good chance of beating them."

While appearances at Coventry have been limited, Fowler has made a speciality of Cup football.

He was in the Highfield Road juniors who went to successive FA Youth Cup finals - he played in a 4-0 win at the McAlpine one year - but they lost each showpiece to West Ham and Arsenal.

Then he scored in a televised FA Cup replay against his hometown club Cardiff City.

"That didn't go down very well," he recalled. "I got some terrible stick from my mates."
