HUDDERSFIELD Town have paid out £50,000 this week - after striker Lee Novak completed 30 games for the club.

Novak signed for Town from Gateshead for an initial down payment of £50,000 with two further instalments of the same amount paid on the completion of 15 and 30 games.

The 21-year-old, who has scored six goals for Lee Clark’s side, reached 30 games in Town’s last outing, a 1-0 win at Yeovil Town.

At £150,000, Novak is comfortably a record transfer for North East non-league football and Gateshead chairman Graham Wood is delighted he has made an impact in Yorkshire.

Wood said: “Lee scored 28 goals in 38 games during our promotion campaign last season and I’m not surprised he has done so well at Huddersfield.

“They rate him highly and he has been involved in the first team from day one. It shows what a quality player he is and he will only get better.

“It was a good deal for both clubs and a fair one for a player who is a natural goalscorer and has a long career ahead of him.

“Becoming a full-time club next season will be expensive, so £100,000 this season from the Novak transfer has been a tremendous help in difficult economic times.”
