BLOSSOMING striker Jon Stead will miss the trip to Lincoln City on Saturday week because of a one-match ban.

The nine-goal frontman, who is in line for the Nationwide League Third Division Player of the Month award, picked up his fifth booking of the season.

Midfield duo Lee Fowler and Jon Worthington both moved to within one more caution of a ban after seeing yellow at the hand of Gloucestershire referee Lee Probert, while Efe Sodje was also cautioned.

"It's disappointing because I don't think there was a bad tackle by either side in the match," said Jackson.

"The bookings were all for petty, little things, and now we'll be without Jon for Lincoln, which is a blow both for him and the club."

Stead suffered further frustration at Roots Hall when he was denied a 10th goal of the campaign by Darryl Flahavan's excellent 77th- minute save. The goalkeeper palmed the ball wide as Stead chested down Sodje's upfield ball and shot on the turn.

Jackson was today running fitness checks on centre-back Steve Yates, who played the full 90 minutes despite suffering a knock to the knee early on, and midfielder Lee Fowler, who had an ice pack applied to his right ankle after coming off in the 86th minute.

Fowler has pulled out of the Wales Under 21 squad for Friday's clash with Serbia and Montenegro at Barry Town.

* Town will host Grimsby in the first round of the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday, October 22 (7.00).
