FIRED-UP Jon Worthington is back in full training and focused on leading Town to victory against Chesterfield in his first full 90 minutes of 2007.

The 23-year-old midfielder has responded to treatment for a groin problem which dogged him after scoring in Saturday's 2-1 win at Bournemouth.

Now he's keen to complete a first match since the 3-2 win against Swansea in December and provide the tonic for Town which has so far eluded manager Peter Jackson in the transfer window.

Jackson has let striker Pawel Abbott and left-back Danny Adams leave the Galpharm, but his bid for a Championship striker has so far proved fruitless and there's no firm news on other targets.

"I haven't ruled out the possibility of something happening before Saturday and it's just a matter of waiting for calls," said Jackson today.

On Worthington's return to fitness - he trained with the senior squad at Leeds Road yesterday - Jackson added: "It's a tremendous boost for everyone in the club."

Worthington, whose close friend Nathan Clarke was back for the Reserves against West Brom today, said: "I have been playing with a niggle and when I start to tire it becomes more of a niggle, so it's just a case of managing it properly.

"I'm feeling fine at the moment and now I'm just looking forward to playing a full 90 minutes."
