Graham Salisbury will referee Huddersfield Town’s home derby against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

It’s a 16th appointment of the season for the Lancashire whistler, whose last Town match was the 5-1 Championship defeat at Leeds United last season.

Preston-based Salisbury, 52, has been on the Football League list since 2001.

He refereed the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final between Brentford and Carlisle United at Wembley in 2011.

Salisbury’s son Michael is an assistant referee at Football League level.

West Yorkshire’s Andrew Madley will be the fourth official at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile referees will use vanishing spray at free-kicks in Championship matches from the start of January.

The spray was succesfully used in last summer’s World Cup and adopted by the Premier League at the start of the season.

It has been tried out in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Now the Football League will equip referees for league matches.

The spray is used to ensure defensive walls are at least 10 yards from where the free0kick is taken.

It disappears about a minute after being applied.
