GREENHEAD College are celebrating success again after their team won the British Colleges Yorkshire & Humberside Second XI League after a terrific season.

The team, coached by Mark Tatam went through the entire season with just one defeat (the first game of the year) as they notched up a total of 45 goals in 14 games against teams from Huddersfield, Leeds, Barnsley, Wakefield and Rotherham.

They were completely unbeaten from September to March, and that also included winning six friendlies.

Skippered by Callum Penson, Greenhead secured the title in the penultimate game of the season when he snatched a 1-1 draw against Barnsley, the only team to inflict defeat on them this term.

Tom Haigh was the team’s top scorer with nine goals, while Elliott Fielding, Dominic Oldham and Alex Allen all scored eight apiece.

Although the side are losing Penson, Allen, Jack Williams, Tom Collier, Fielding and Oldham to university next year, the other half of the squad are first year students, and eligible to play again next season.
