Huddersfield Town’s ‘hard men’ have become a hot topic.

Statistics revealed Town are among the top eight sides in the Championship in terms of fouls committed this season.

Attention turned to the fearless tacklers of Town’s past, with an initial list comprising Jimmy McGill, Brian O’Neil, Tom Cowan, Ronnie Jepson, Andy Morrison and Danny Adams.

Fans have responded to www.examiner.co.uk and our Huddersfield Town Facebook page with their own suggestions.

These include Darren Bullock, who was the midfield enforcer of Neil Warnock’s promotion-winning team in the mid 1990s, and from a decade before that, Sam Allardyce has been added to the list.

Former Liverpool and Wrexham favourite Joey Jones features strongly, while Mick Kennedy has been picked out by some.

Kevin Lampkin is a player to perhaps get a surprise mention, while Welsh international legend Barry Horne, another Welshman Steve Doyle and former captain Malcolm Shotton have been put forward by supporters.

Peter Butler is another midfielder to get the nod, while Arnie Sidebottom may be better remembered for his cricket exploits with Yorkshire and England, but he is mentioned from his time with Town in the mid 1970s.
