LIFE'S been a beach for Mark Hudson - but now the hard work is really under way.

The midfielder was today lining up alongside Town's leading scorer Pawel Abbott in the Reserves' Pontin's Holidays League clash with Rotherham at the Galpharm (2.0).

Striker Abbott, who has 13 goals, was aiming to prove his recovery from the back strain which kept him out of the League I trip to Swansea.

He completed a full training session yesterday after working with physio Lee Martin.

Midfielder Hudson continued his comeback from the ankle injury suffered during the 3-2 win at Oldham in January.

The former Chesterfield man played in last week's 2-0 Reserve win against Nottingham Forest.

And while his colleagues were resting up before the Liberty Stadium clash, which finished 2-2, Hudson was ploughing up and down the Swansea sands.

"We had him out on the beach, but it wasn't for sunbathing," said boss Peter Jackson.

"Huddy had a good work-out, then another out on the pitch after the game.

"He's making good progress but, like Pav, I want him to have some Reserve football under his belt."

Jackson last night watched Saturday's visitors Doncaster draw 0-0 with Brentford.

Down at Bournemouth, Town's promotion rivals Barnsley drew 1-1. The two results mean Town stay second.

A string of former Town stars will be at the Galpharm Panasonic Suite for tomorrow's Patrons meeting (7.30 for 8.00).

Stars of the Mick Buxton era Keith Hanvey, Mally Brown, Ian Robins and Dave Sutton will be joined by the Taylor brothers, Ken and Jeff.
