Harry Bunn has signed a new Huddersfield Town contract in a massive boost for tonight’s clash with Derby County.

The in-form 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a John Smith’s Stadium deal until 2017, with the club having the option of a further year at that stage.

New Town boss Chris Powell is delighted the former Manchester City Academy player has extended the one-year terms he was offered at the end of last term.

“Harry is a great character and I have no doubt that he will keep working hard every day in training,” said Powell, whose side are unbeaten in seven Championship matches going into tonight’s game.

“Everyone can see the impact he has already made, but at just 21 there is still more improvement to come – that’s an exciting prospect!

“I’m delighted that we’ve secured Harry’s future. The Club has been talking to Harry and his representatives behind the scenes over the last few weeks as it was important we reached an agreement that all parties – the club and Harry – were happy with.”

Oldham-born and the son of Town Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn, he had loans at Rochdale (under Steve Eyre) Preston North End, Oldham Athletic, Crewe Alexandra and Sheffield United before joining Town.

He was closely monitored by Town after suffering a cruciate ligament injury in September 2012 and when he joined at PPG Canalside, he scored regular goals at Under 21 level and, this season, has netted five goals in 14 appearances.

He was the Blue & White Foundation player of the month for September.
