TOWN snapped a run of three consecutive draws to pick up their fourth away win of the campaign at Carlisle.

And although it wasn’t enough to take them back into the top six in League I, they have opened up a five-point lead ahead of eighth-placed MK Dons.

Well-positioned for a play-off push, Town are tipped by bookies to register back-to-back away wins for the first time this season, Ladbrokes pricing them at 11/8 to land three points at Hartlepool, where the home side are quoted by Victor Chandler at 15/8 and Betdaq rate the draw 12/5.

The latter could prove popular given Town’s recent spate of stalemates and there are odds of 6/1 (Betfred) for 1-1 while William Hill chalk 10/1 against a goalless draw.

However, Lee Clark’s men have improved on the road, so victory by a one-goal margin, available with 888Sport at 3/1, could be on the cards.

Town ran out 2-1 winners in the pair’s Galpharm clash in November and totesport’s 8/1 for a repeat of that scoreline is worth considering, although those sensing a low-scoring encounter featuring fewer than three goals (10/11, Stan James) will obviously prefer Paddy Power’s 15/2 posted against Town bagging the only goal.

Elsewhere, Partybets offer 6/4 for a Town clean sheet but also quote odds of 7/10 for both teams to score, and Jaxx.com make Clark’s charges 4/5 to break the deadlock.

That opening goal is 11/2 with bet365 to be struck by Jordan Rhodes.
