When you’ve faced the likes of Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao this year already you wouldn’t think the likes of Igor Vetokele and Tom Watt would hold much fear.

But Huddersfield Town loan keeper from Aston Villa, Jed Steer, will be desperate to help his side chalk a first clean sheet of the season against Charlton Athletic at the Valley tonight.

Steer – who played the final match of last season in the Premiership for Villa at home to Burnley – conceded twice on his debut for Chris Powell in the defeat at Cardiff City and has now set his sights on thwarting Guy Luzon’s 10th-placed Championship outfit.

Steer was in goal on loan for Yeovil in January when they faced Manchester United in the FA Cup (they lost 2-0 at Huish Park, when Rooney and Falcao failed to score) and while he’s been getting to know his new Town colleagues at Bisham Abbey over the last couple of days, the bookies are firmly in Charlton’s court when it comes to tonight’s outcome.

Charlton are the 13/10 favourites to take three points – they are likely to have Everton loan signing, the highly-rated forward Conor McAleny, in their line-up for the first time – while the draw is 5/2.

Town are rated 9/4 to post a first win of the season.
