THE cries of “Boothy, Boothy” rang out at Wembley yesterday.

But this time they were not for Huddersfield Town legend Andy .

They were for his son Harrison, who scored the winning goal as young soccer players from Honley CE Junior School won the npower Football League Kids Cup Final.

Their 1-0 victory over Harris Primary Academy from Peckham – representing Millwall – came as a curtain-raiser to the npower Championship play-off between Crystal Palace and Watford.

That game had many, many millions at stake with a prize in the Premier League up for grabs.

But for the youngsters from Honley, it was all about the chance to play on the hallowed turf after winning through to the final from 1,800 schools.

And young Harrison Booth followed in the footsteps of his dad by scoring at Wembley.

Booth senior did it 18 years ago, in 1995, grabbing the first goal as Town beat Bristol Rovers 2-1 to win the old Division II play-offs.

Harrison was joined by his teammates, all aged 10 or 11, who were keeper Joshua Leake, Lucas Williams, Nathan Sheard, Owen Kenworthy, Noah Thackeray, Vaughan Hirst and Charlie Jakeman.

The boys were coached by year five teacher and school PE co-ordinator Angela Marshall.

She said: “It has been brilliant. The lads really worked their socks off and they deserved the win.

“They were treated like VIPs with a tour of the whole ground before the match.

“The match itself was a very tense 14 minutes but the winning goal from Harrison was great. It was a set-piece ending with a header of which his dad would have been proud.

“They then got the honour of being flag-bearers for the two teams in the play-off itself and great seats to watch the game.

“It has been tremendous for them and for the 50 or so supporters and family members who have come down with us.”

Andy Booth admitted it was a great day.

“I certainly would have been proud to score a goal like Harrison’s.

“But this was a great team performance; they were well organised and they worked for each other. They were fantastic.”

Honley won through the Northern tournament at The Zone in Huddersfield , where they topped their group, then defeated Leeds on penalties in the semis and Middlesbrough 2-0 in the final.

Earlier in the competition, they beat Meltham CE Primary School, who won the cup at Old Trafford two years ago.
