DELIGHTED boss Lee Clark heralded some “sensational play” as Town powered into the second round with their biggest FA Cup win in 18 years.

Gary Roberts (2), Lee Novak (2), Robbie Williams and Jordan Rhodes were on target as Town purred, booking their slot in tomorrow’s 3.30pm draw with a 6-1 win against a shell-shocked League II Dagenham & Redbridge.

Paul Benson netted Dagenham’s consolation, the first Galpharm goal Town had conceded in 518 minutes, but it couldn’t take the gloss off Clark’s first tie as a manager and the club’s best win since Lincoln United were beaten 7-0 in the 1991 first round.

“Some of our attacking play was sensational and wouldn’t have looked out of place in any tie or division,” he beamed. “Our wide men were simply magnificent and it’s fantastic as a manager when your players produce football of the highest quality.

“The lads in the starting XI are making it very difficult for anyone else to get in and the only blip was the goal we let in, simply by making the wrong decision in the wrong area of the pitch.

“Overall, though, it was very pleasing. I keep setting standards and the players push the bar even higher. You can’t ask for more than that.”
