It's not just staff at the John Smith’s Stadium who are facing a busy spell as Huddersfield Town host Nottingham Forest on Thursday before Huddersfield Giants take on Leeds Rhinos 24 hours later.

Sky Sports are covering both games live – and they will have different crews for each of the football and rugby league fixtures.

That means one set of equipment must be packed up and taken away after the Championship clash with Forest (7.45) before the next arrives for the Super 8s game against the Rhinos (8.00).

“It might seem strange,” said a Sky Sports spokesman.

“But it’s at as simple as using the same gear for both games.

“We have specialists in different sports, the demands are different in terms of coverage and we use different production companies.”

It’s Town’s first Sky appearance of the season, and they are also on live when they go to Wolves in their next game on Saturday, October 3 (12.30).

The Giants were last screened when they beat Castleford Tigers 40-26 on September 3.

Thursday night games have become commonplace in rugby league.

It’s also Europa League day in football, but at club level in English football, matches are far less regular.

Town did play on a Thursday during the 2013-14 season – a 1-1 Boxing Day draw with Derby County at the John Smith’s Stadium.
