BIG Alan Lee scored his first league goals for the club to power Huddersfield Town up to eighth in the League I table - just four points behind the leaders.

The 33-year-old targetman netted within a minute of replacing Lee Novak as substitute and then powered home a second header 15 minutes later to put Town in command.

Fellow sub Gary Roberts then completed the 3-0 win against defensive Wycombe Wanderers with a raking free-kick 18 minutes from time, as Town extended their unbeaten run of regular league matches  to 30.

Lee - who previously netted in the FA Cup defeat at Arsenal last season - scored with his first touch of the ball from a Gary Naysmith cross on 56 minutes, while his second was the result of a brilliant right-wing cross from right-back Jack Hunt - Lee powering past Nikki Bull in true Andy Booth fashion.

Wycombe, who had constantly put all bar one man behind the ball in an effort to frustrate Town, were forced to be more adventurous and Roberts, who had replaced Donal McDermott, took advantage with his angled strike, after Jordan Rhodes had been upended on the right hand side of the box in the 82nd minute.

Manager Lee Clark made just one change - Antony Kay taking over in the heart of defence and as skipper because Peter Clarke has a back injury. Clark is not expected to be out long but will miss the Johnstone's Paint Trophy trip to Northampton on Tuesday because he's visiting a specialist in London on Tuesday and Wednesday for one-to-one treatment.

Clark also revealed that Damien Johnson, who has been out since half way through last season, will play in a practice match against Middlesbrough at the Galpharm on Wednesday and is expected to be fit for selection when Town visit Oldham next Saturday (when four-goal striker Rhodes will have linked up with Scotland Under 21s for their European qualifier against Bulgaria).
