JACK HUNT says Town will take note of their Brentford wake-up call when they go into League I play-off action at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The versatile 21-year-old is plotting a promotion double, having spent the first half of this season on loan at League II champions Chesterfield.

And the versatile left-sided star is confident Town can stretch their unbeaten run of 25 league games into the play-off ties.

“We weren’t completely on our game,” said the academy product of Saturday’s 4-4 Galpharm stalemate.

“Nobody was thinking about Bournemouth.

“We prepared for the Brentford game thoroughly and wanted to win it.

“We conceded goals by not keeping it as tight at the back as we have done recently, and we’ve worked on that in training this week.

“But we’re not going to get hung up about it because we still maintained our unbeaten run, and we firmly believe we can succeed in the play-offs.

“Bournemouth are going to be tough opponents. Both league games against them were tight (2-2 at the Galpharm and 1-1 at Dean Court) and I was impressed by them down there.

“But league results count for nothing now. It’s about who is in form and who has the hunger, and I’m certain we have both those things on our side.”

Hunt’s comments came as the Football League named Mick Russell as Saturday’s referee. The Hertfordshire official was in charge when Town won 1-0 at Charlton last month.

Neil Swarbrick, from Lancashire, will be in the middle for the second leg at the Galpharm a week tonight. He took charge of Town’s Carling Cup clash at Everton in August.

Town are to visit Blue Square Premier side Gateshead for a friendly on Saturday, July 9.
