LEE CLARK today hailed Town’s fine home defensive record and urged his team to blunt The Daggers tomorrow night.

Town haven’t conceded a goal in seven hours and 24 minutes of action at the Galpharm and Clark is eager to beat the clock again by blanking Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup first round (7.45).

A first away clean sheet of the season in the win at Oldham provides inspiration, as does top form from the likes of consistent Lee Peltier in the build-up to a first-ever meeting between Town and the east London club.

“We’ve had four clean sheets on the bounce at home and when you’re stopping the opposition from scoring it’s bound to be a solid base,” said Clark.

“It’s a team thing and about doing things correctly as a group, and when we do the defensive side of the game properly I’m always confident we’ll win games because of the quality we’ve got at the top end of the pitch – we’ve got people who can create and people who can score.”

It’s 444 minutes since Kieran Murtagh’s goal against Town in Yeovil’s 2-1 Galpharm defeat on August 29, since when Peltier and Co have remained untouchable.

“Lee Peltier is a terrific athlete and in the last five or six matches he’s been outstanding,” added the boss, chasing an £18,000 first-round win prize, a place in the November 28 second round and hoping to avoid a Victoria Road replay on Tuesday, November 17.

“He’s quick, good in the air for his size and he enjoys defending. On top of that, his pattern play and attacking has improved and, at home, pace and creativity from the full-backs is vital to us and Lee has been producing a consistently high level.

“He can still continue improving and we are working with him on all aspects, but playing like he is he’s a tremendous asset to the team.”
