1. Both Huddersfield Town and Joe Lolley like St Andrew’s

This was Town’s third win in four trips to Birmingham City since they won promotion back to the Championship in 2012 - and their other game there was a draw.

And it was the second season in succession Lolley, rejected by Blues as a 16-year-old, has scored at the ground.

To make things all the sweeter, he is an Aston Villa fan while his mum and several other family members and friends are big Birmingham supporters.

2. Huddersfield Town CAN keep a clean sheet

Winning was great - to blank Birmingham into the bargain made it even better.

This was only a third clean sheet of the campaign, and Town had conceded at least two goals in each of their six previous games.

On-loan Aston Villa stopper Jed Steer made key saves from Demarai Gray and Jon Toral, but blanking Birmingham reflected an all-round team effort.

3. David Wagner is willing to tweak his tactics

The head coach certainly likes his 4-2-3-1 formation and full-throttle football. Town won’t deviate from this overall approach, but will make the odd amendment.

It was noticeable that against Birmingham, the ‘fighting zone’, where the opposition are most often engaged, was deeper than against Middlesbrough while wide players tried to squeeze in to limit the home side’s opportunity to work the wings.

4. Sean Scannell seems to be thriving under the new team chief

The former Crystal Palace player scored the first goal of Wagner’s reign at Sheffield Wednesday.

And Scannell marked his 150th career league start with a slick show which included two assists and a number of other decent deliveries.

Birmingham struggled to handle his pace and power.

5. Fitness is improving

Work is a four-letter word, sung Cilla Black.

But it’s music to the ears of David Wagner, who said Town’s fitness levels would rise under his regime.

His intense training sessions are paying off, with his side producing a really solid 90-minute performance.
