LEE CLARK is fed up playing paper chase and desperate for a proper game of football at Bristol Rovers tomorrow.
But Town’s manager, who is still waiting for the green light to field new frontmen Jonathan Tehoue and Lukas Jutkiewicz, accepts his first-ever trip to the Memorial Ground may have to be put on hold because of the big freeze.
Heavy snow left the city of Bristol in chaos yesterday, its airport closed and a thick covering on Rovers’ pitch, not all of which was protected by sheeting before the latest wave of bad weather.
Club officials say the game is “in the balance” and will make a decision before Clark and his squad set off for the West Country this afternoon.
The Galpharm chief has tricky wingman and eight-goal top scorer Gary Roberts, pictured, back after a three-game suspension.
But four days on from Monday’s 5.00 transfer cut-off, he’s still waiting for confirmation that Frenchman Tehoue has international clearance and that the paperwork for highly-rated Everton teenager Jutkiewicz’s loan switch has been processed.
“It’s frustrating, but you have to try to be philosophical about these things,” said Clark, who is without Danny Cadamarteri because of a calf strain picked up in the warm-up before Tuesday’s 1-1 home draw with Hartlepool.
“The suggestion is that Jonathan’s clearance should be here in time for tomorrow’s game if it goes ahead.
“With Lukas, the deal is all agreed, so if we don’t get in time for tomorrow, we’ll just resubmit the documents to the FA when the loan window reopens on Monday, so he’ll definitely be available for the Leeds game (at the Galpharm tomorrow week).”
Rovers, 15th to Town’s ninth placing in League I, have a big doubt over 20-goal top scorer Rickie Lambert, who was a reported target of the Galpharm club during the transfer window.
The former Rochdale man is suffering from a hip problem.
