David Wagner won't be making his way to Basel for Liverpool's Europa League final.

The Huddersfield Town boss was pictured enthusiastically supporting old friend Jurgen Klopp during his side's Europa League semi-final with Villareal at Anfield, and he was also in attendance for the quarter final to watch former side Borussia Dortmund lose out to Liverpool in the most dramatic style.

But he won't be in Switzerland to see how the story ends against Sevilla.

Wagner has gone on holiday with his family following the end of the Championship season and his first in charge of the Terriers.

However, he's sure to be on the phone should his friend celebrate his own first campaign in the Anfield hotseat by lifting the Europa League trophy on Wednesday night.

Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool talks to James Milner during a Liverpool training session on the eve of the UEFA Europa League Final against Sevilla at St. Jakob-Park on May 17, 2016 in Basel, Switzerland.

Wagner will be back in Huddersfield for the start of pre-season training on June 24.

But he won't be switching off entirely with summer recruitment on the agenda for the manager and Stuart Webber ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Town have been linked with a season-long loan move for Liverpool stopper Danny Ward , while Wagner himself has spoken of his desire to secure another senior striker alongside Nahki Wells.
