LEE CLARK reflected on a fast and frantic 2-2 League I draw over at Scunthorpe and said: “We’re disappointed now, but in the cold light of day, this might well prove a good point.”

Town’s boss, who denied any knowledge of stories linking him with the managerial vacancies at Championship clubs Leicester and Portsmouth, looked on in frustration as Chris Dagnall scored an 88th-minute leveller for the home side.

It came less than 60 seconds after Jordan Rhodes volleyed Town in front with his ninth goal in four games.

Earlier, Town keeper Ian Bennett had made two penalty saves, after Oliver Norwood put Scunthorpe in front in the 10th minute and Tommy Miller equalised in the 25th.

“We were disappointed with the first goal, because we didn’t press their player the way we normally do,” said Clark.

“But then we played some great football and scored a fantastic equaliser, then continued to press and created some really good opportunities.

“The man in form (Rhodes) scored a terrific goal and at that stage, you are obviously hoping you can see the game out, but then an error has cost us all three points, so you’re disappointed.

“But we move on having gone 40 league games unbeaten, and now our focus is on Saturday’s game at Yeovil.”

On Bennett, Clark said: “I can’t praise him highly enough. I knew the quality and the character of the man I was bringing in and his form is down to hard work on his part and that of (goalkeeping coach) John Vaughan.

“Ian is a vitally important member of our team.”

Clark said of the Leicester City and Portsmouth speculation: “I am Huddersfield Town’s manager, I am working for a fantastic owner and board of directors and I am not applying for any other jobs.

“I have had no contact from any other club, nor has my representative, and I have had no calls from the chairman or chief executive here to say any other club has been in contact.”

Town’s juniors head to Scunthorpe tonight for an FA Youth Cup first-round tie back at Glanford Park (7.00).
