LEE CLARK looked ahead to tomorrow’s big League I derby at Sheffield Wednesday and proclaimed: “It’s the right game for us at the right time.”

The boss says Town are champing at the bit as they bid to respond to the successive defeats which have left them fourth in League I.

Promotion rivals Wednesday now occupy the second spot Clark’s side held before losing at leaders Charlton and at home to Bournemouth.

Gary Megson’s Owls go into the game, which is set to attract a 25,000-plus crowd, chasing a sixth straight win.

They have dropped only two points in their nine home league games to date, with Brentford holding them goalless.

But Clark, confident about the availability of right-back Jack Hunt, inset, after an ankle injury but without midfielder Damien Johnson because of a hamstring strain, says he and his players are ready.

“I’m buzzing and I believe that in terms of arena, attendance and ambition, it’s a fixture with Premier League potential,” he said.

“We were all disappointed at the manner of last Saturday’s (1-0) defeat by Bournemouth, but after analysing the performance, we’ve moved on.

“This is football, and sometimes those off days happen, but we’ve looked into the reasons and acted on what we discovered.

“We didn’t create anything like the normal number of crosses, and we didn’t put them under pressure, and that’s not what we’re about.

“We have to ensure it was a one-off, and in terms of making Sheffield Wednesday aware they’ve been in a game and in terms of us creating chances, I firmly believe we will do that.

“Wednesday are doing really well and picking up lots of points.

“They are a big, powerful team who will work really hard for each other.

“They will have a big crowd behind them, but we’ll have tremendous backing too, and we’re ready.”

It’s all-ticket for Town fans, with 3,700-plus sold so far.
