TOWN boss Lee Clark is today set to renew talks with Leicester City about striker Steve Howard.

There was no contact yesterday because of the Foxes’ Championship clash at Crystal Palace.

But it’s believed Clark will reopen negotiations with Leicester manager Nigel Pearson with a view to having the striker on board for Saturday’s League I trip to Leyton Orient.

Howard, 33, has 196 career goals, but has fallen behind the likes of French forward Yann Kermorgant and on-loan duo James Vaughan (Everton) and Martyn Waghorn (Sunderland) in the pecking order.

While the prolific Matty Fryatt is currently sidelined by a broken jaw, Pearson can also call on Nicky Adams, back from a loan stint at Orient, and Dany N’Guessan.

Town reserves’ winning run in the totesport.com League East Division was ended when Scunthorpe sealed a 4-1 win at Glanford Park.

Scorer for Paul Stephenson’s side, who had won their previous six games in succession, was Michael McCaffery.

The reserves’ game at Newcastle, originally scheduled for Monday April 19, will now take place on Tuesday 20 at Whitley Park (7.00).
