DELIGHTED boss Lee Clark believes Town “put down a marker” in toppling top-flight Blackburn last night and revealed: “I’d like to bring in two more signings.”
Joey Gudjonsson sealed the 1-0 win in front of 6,651 fans at the Galpharm as Clark played his eighth summer signing – Nottingham Forest loan man Joe Garner – from the bench.
“I was very pleased with the performance and if we play like that on August 7 we won’t go far wrong,” said Clark.
“The new players showed what quality they will bring to the group and the ones already here have embraced that and it’s pushed them on, so I’m very pleased.
“Joey and Scott Arfield showed what a good combination they can be, it was a great move and finish for the goal, and the whole group have put down a marker.
“Joe Garner will be a massive asset for us and a magnificent signing and, to be fair, I would like to bring in two more.
“We are quite far down the line in trying to bring that about and, if I can get them by August 7, they will be the last two signings I make.”
