LEE CLARK hailed the professionalism which propelled Town into the League I play-offs – and called for more of the same in the two regular-season matches which remain.

Town follow up their 6-0 mauling of Stockport County with Saturday’s home clash against Colchester United, who dropped out of the top-six reckoning because of their failure to beat Tranmere Rovers.

Clark’s side, currently sixth, then go to Exeter City on Saturday, May 8, and the manager said: “We go for six points out of six and our approach to the games won’t change.

“We will try to continue the good work we’ve done because if we do things properly in the next two games and other results go for us, we can affect where we end up in terms of the play-off semi-finals.”

The play-off first legs will be on Friday May 14 and Saturday 15 and the second legs, when the sides who finish third and fourth have home advantage, will be on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18.

Just two points separate Swindon, in fourth, and Town, in sixth.

Looking back to Stockport, when Town made it five wins from six games, Clark said: “I thought we played exceptionally well. The lads were professional and took on board what we had told them in preparation.

“They did their jobs well and when the game opened up a bit, they were ruthless.

“There was a bit of pressure on us, but the lads handled it and that’s a good sign.

“We knew the pitch would be awkward, so making good decisions was vital, and we did that.

“It wasn’t a surface for the kind of one and two-touch football we like, so we had to get the ball out wide and put it into the danger area, and we used the pace of Jordan Rhodes and Theo Robinson well.
