GETTING back the winning feeling was an obvious delight for Town boss Lee Clark.

His side’s 1-0 victory at Hereford United ended a seven-match sequence that had produced only four draws and the victory also gave him his first away success of his managerial career.

The taste of victory was plainly sweet and Clark said: “ Winning is the only feeling that is worth having.

“Nothing tops being involved in professional sport and being part of a winning dressing room – the only feeling I have ever had to beat it was the birth of my three children.

“The last six weeks have hurt like crazy and it is very important that we are winners on match days.

“I am delighted to win away from home and with the manner in which we did it – and getting a clean sheet. I have seen over the week the belief coming back into the players and I am sure everyone saw that as we created some very good opportunities.”

However, he was not about to let his side bask in the glory and was demanding that they back up their success with a win at Bristol Rovers tomorrow night.

“I have to be a bit of a killjoy as our minds now have to be on the game against Bristol,” said Clark.

“I am coming up against an old teammate of mine in Paul Trollope who I was with for a short spell when I was at Fulham.

“He has got some terrific players at Rovers and he has done a terrific job down there.

“We know that it is going to be a tough game, but off the back of our performance at Hereford we can go there full of optimism and with a lot more belief.”

Trollope’s side are in good home form with Rickie Lambert scoring his 25th league goal of the season as Bristol Rovers won to dent Stockport’s play-off hopes with a 2-0 success.

Rovers were in command from the fourth minute when Steve Elliott headed down a Stuart Campbell free-kick for Byron Anthony to volley in from close range.

Lambert’s goal came from the penalty spot after James Tunnicliffe had handled Jo Kuffour’s ball in the box.
