SKIPPER Peter Clarke admits he has no idea whether either of Huddersfield Town’s stoppage time chances crossed the line.

Clarke had an effort scrambled away in the third minute of injury time while Jamie McCombe was also denied at the death.

Players including Alan Lee, who hit the bar in a frantic late rally, claimed ball boys thought at least one of them had gone over.

But Clarke cannot say for certain and said: “We all hoped the ball had gone over, but I don’t know if either of them crossed the line fully for not.

“You have to play to the whistle and unfortunately the whistle never came to signal a goal. We feel a little unlucky, but there were plenty of positives.”

He added the brand of attacking football Town played, which caused Swindon huge problems, was one of the most pleasing aspects of a 17th unbeaten league game.

Jordan Rhodes hit the bar, Gary Roberts and Scott Arfield were denied by last-ditch tackles and Clarke had a first half header cleared off the line.

Swindon keeper David Lucas also made some good saves to stop Town and Clarke added: “We did everything but score.

“In terms of the football we played, this was probably a better performance than the ones we’d produced in the last two or three games.

“It’s frustrating that we didn’t get the three points we desired. But I’m sure there were some tired bodies on their coach back to Swindon.”

A draw was enough to equal an 86-year-old club record and means the team remains unbeaten since a 4-1 defeat at Southampton at Christmas.

Clarke wants to extend that run as second-placed Town have played more games than rivals like the Saints in what has become a tight promotion race.

He said: “We were hurt by that defeat at Southampton. I’m not sure if there’s anything you can pinpoint, but we had a belief that we could go on an unbeaten run.

“We want to extend that run between now and then end of the season with the aim of finishing in the top two. And if you can’t win, you have to make sure you don’t lose.

“It’s a tight division and I’m sure it’ll stay that way. If we can carry on picking up points hopefully it’ll take us to where we want to go.”
