SWINDON defender Hasney Aljofree is on the comeback trail – but Tuesday’s League I clash with Town might come a touch too soon.

The 31-year-old Mancunian hasn’t played first-team football in a year because of an injury which necessitated a fifth operation on his left knee.

But the former Bolton player came through Monday’s 2-1 Wiltshire Premier Shield semi-final first leg win at Salisbury City unscathed, and is looking to step things up.

“It feels good to be playing again, although I’ve still got to get a few games under my belt before I start thinking about first-team football,” he explained.

“I’ve got to keep training hard and plugging away, and then I might get my chance. Being sidelined has been torture.”

While Aljofree battles to force his way back into the frame, County Ground boss Danny Wilson is considering further loan signings.

He already has Celtic pair Simon Ferry and Ben Hutchinson, as well as Southend’s Alex Revell and Bolton’s Temitope Obadeyi on board.

But the former Sheffield Wednesday, Barnsley and Hartlepool boss, whose 11th-placed side make the long trek to Carlisle on Saturday, said: “We need to add to certain areas.

“We have one or two players in mind and we’re hopeful things will come to fruition because to be honest, we’re looking a little bit thin on the ground.
