Huddersfield Town defender Anthony Gerrard has hinted that his future may lie elsewhere after revealing his determination to play first-team football on Twitter.

The defender successfully completed 90 minutes as he continued to step up his rehabilitation from a calf injury in the 1-0 Under-21's win over Coventry City, with fellow returnee Adam Hammill grabbing the only goal of the game.

Gerrard, who made his sixth appearance for the U21's so far this term against the Sky Blues, has already been linked with a move to Sheffield United this season and with Mark Hudson and Joel Lynch currently Chris Powell's first-choice pairing opportunities would appear scarce.

Murray Wallace is another obstacle between Gerrard and the starting XI, particularly after signing a new deal, and the defender suggested the best solution could be for him to secure a move elsewhere.

"As much as I love playing and helping the young boys with there development I need too start playing 1st team games now wherever that may be," the 28-year-old said on Twitter.

He had previously praised the development squad for their performance by saying: "Another 90 minutes for the U21's thought the boys were outstanding 1st half and realistly (sic) could should of been 5 up at half time."
