Chris Powell says Huddersfield Town defender Anthony Gerrard remains available for loan – but that no club has enquired since the Football League emergency window opened.

The 29-year-old centre-back has made only one start and three substitute appearances since returning from a calf injury picked up in pre-season.

The arrival of David Edgar on loan from Birmingham City has lessened his chances of figuring between now and the end of the campaign, when he is out of contract.

“I have spoken to Anthony and the situation remains the same – he wants to play games,” said Powell. “That’s not something I can guarantee, so we’ll see what develops.”

Liverpudlian Gerrard started his career at Everton and joined Walsall during the 2005 close-season after a loan spell at the West Midlands club.

He moved to Cardiff City in 2009 and after spending the 2010-11 season on loan to Hull City, featured in the Welsh club’s Cardiff’s 2012 League Cup final clash with Liverpool.

Simon Grayson brought him to Town in 2012 and he has made 91 appearances for the club, scoring twice.
