Huddersfield Town defender Jason Davidson helped Australia take another step on the road to qualification for the 2018 World Cup finals with a thumping 5-0 win over Bangladesh in Perth.

The close-season signing from West Bromwich Albion made his 19th international appearance in the Asian Football Confederation Qualifying Group B game watched by 19,495.

Scorers for the Socceroos were Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic (2), striker Mathew Leckie, who plays his club football in Germany, FC Tokyo winger Nathan Burns and Melbourne City midfielder Aaron Mooy.

Australia, who won 2-1 in their first qualifier in Kyrgyzstan in June, head to Tajikistan on Tuesday.
