HUDDERSFIELD Town keeper Alex Smithies is back in the England Under 21 squad following his injury, while Kevin Kilbane is in the full Republic of Ireland squad for their Euro qualifier against Macedonia.

Galpharm star Smithies, who will play his third successive match in Lee Clark’s side at Brentford tonight after earning a recall, is in the squad for the match against Denmark in Viborg on March 24.

Kilbane, meanwhile, who is on loan from Hull, could earn a 109th cap when the Macedonians arrive in Dublin on March 26.

Celtic striker Gary Hooper has been called up for the first time by England.

The former Scunthorpe striker was linked with a shock call-up to the full England squad earlier this month, and will have the chance to impress Fabio Capello if selected for the Under 21 match.

Andy Carroll and Jack Wilshere have been excluded from Stuart Pearce’s 31-man squad, suggesting Capello will call up the duo for the seniors’ game against Wales in Cardiff next week. Kieran Gibbs, Micah Richards, Jordan Henderson, Chris Smalling and Jack Rodwell have all been named in Pearce's squad
