Huddersfield Town’s plum pre-season home clash with Liverpool is set to attract more than 15,000 fans.

John Smith’s Stadium boss David Wagner and old mate Jurgen Klopp go head to head for the Shankly Trophy on Wednesday, July 20 (7.45).

If the game is level after 90 minutes, there will be a penalty shoot-out.

High ticket demand (14,500 have already been sold) means Town will now open the Britannia Rescue (Kilner Bank) Stand.

The cost (seating is unreserved) is £15 adults, £10 over 60s and £5 under 18s.

The third-round FA Cup tie, which the Reds won 2-0, attracted 23,678, Town’s highest crowd at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Town, who were 1-0 winners at Guiseley on Wednesday, go to Oldham Athletic on Saturday.

Wagner’s side then play Werder Bremen (Tuesday, July 26) and FC Ingolstadt (Friday 29) during a week-long tour of Austria.

Their first Championship game is at home to Brentford on Saturday, August 6 and that’s followed by a League Cup first-round tie at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday 9.

Liverpool play Barcelona at Wembley that day as part of the International Champions Cup (their Premier League opener is at Arsenal on Sunday, August 14).

Before the visit to Town they play at Fleetwood Town on Wednesday and Wigan Athletic on Sunday (July 17).

After the Town clash they head to the USA for a tour which includes International Champions Cup games against Chelsea and AC Milan and a game against Roma.
