Mark Lillis says Huddersfield Town fans have a massive role to play when Charlton Athletic visit.

The stand-in manager is targeting a third win in four games at the helm as his charges return home after three matches on the road.

It’s their first John Smith’s Stadium outing since the 4-0 opening-day Championship defeat by AFC Bournemouth which led to Mark Robins’ departure.

And Lillis wants the payers to make amends with a battling performance against the unbeaten Londoners.

“We all know the last home performance was unacceptable,” said Lillis, who led Town to a first win of the Championship campaign at Reading on Tuesday.

“We really want to put things right, and my message to the fans is please be positive and get behind us.

“I’ve got a feeling the place will be bouncing, and I know from my own playing days that strong support really matters.

“The fans can play a big part in helping us get the win we all want.”

Charlton are fourth in the embryonic table to Town’s 20th and are chasing a fourth straight win in all competitions.

“They’ve made quite a few changes, including the manager,” he added.

“I don’t know Bob Peeters personally, but we had a good look at his team.

“It will be a tough test, because they’ve won three on the bounce, but we’ve won two out of three, and morale is good.”
