Huddersfield Town supporters are hoping coach David Wagner can grab a couple of key signings before the transfer window closes at the end of this month.

Wagner hinted strongly after the 1-1 draw against Fulham that he would like to bolster the squad – particularly with a striker if possible.

And fans – eagerly-awaiting the FA Cup third round replay at Reading on Tuesday night – agree some transfer business would help the club’s chances of pushing up the Championship table.

Chief, from Shelley, explained: “Careless individual error by Hogg proved costly, however a draw was probably a fair result on reflection.

“Credit to Fulham who play a similar style of football (to us).

“Still waiting for that much-needed striker to walk through the door!

“Need more strength in depth from the bench as well.”

Tony, based at Salendine Nook, agrees.

“Town still looking for third win on the bounce,” he said. “We need more options on the bench.”

Lincoln-based fan Terry is optimistic, especially if signings can be made.

“A bit of a reality check after recent results and performances,” he said of the Fulham match.

“The fact that we need another striker and attacking, wide midfielder was obvious, as we had little choice on the bench to freshen things up.

“Still looking good for a mid-table finish.”

Bill, who lives in Birkby, felt Town did well to get a point.

“Fair result against a team playing our system – and playing it slightly better than us on the day,” he said.

“It was interesting to watch Town be the team struggling against our own way of playing. And interesting to see Charlton lose by a hatful again, telling us not to get carried away by one result.”

Mike, of Clayton West, added: “Good performance considering the two teams cancelled each other out.

“We made too many basic errors and a bit worrying that Bunn, Smith and Wells all seem to have lost some of their sparkle.

“Wagner, though, is starting to deliver the potential that Dean Hoyle was looking for.”

Ben, from Crosland Moor, feels Town need to improve on passing out from the back or scrap the idea, and Ian, who travels to games from Nottingham, concurs.

He said: “Town created good openings when we moved the ball forward quickly and turned the defence.

“But the kamikaze short passing across our penalty box under pressure needs to stop.”

James, from Sheffield, felt substitutions should have been made earlier, while Wakefield-based fan Steve felt “Town looked tired and lacking in attack.”

Lynne, from Mirfield, commented: “Town have played better, but in the past that early mistake would have finished us.

“We improved in the second half and we fully deserved the draw. A good result against Fulham

SPH, of Almondbury, reflected: “Two problems from Saturday’s match: poor passing and decision making while in possession, which are actually linked.

“Despite handing McCormack yet another gift of a goal, Town did enough to earn at least a point against a side with expensive players who are really in a false position.

“We are competing at this level now and David Wagner will get it right.

“Great finish from Hudson, too, who was outstanding throughout the match. Whatever was said to him has had an effect and he is playing out of his skin. Brilliant!

“Rotate some of the players for the FA Cup match and allow those quality youngsters a run-out at Reading.

“I know Flo and Duane can do enough to win Town the game and I would like to see them try.”
