FORMER Town star Kieran O’Regan says the supporters will be a credit to the club at Old Trafford.

He was blown away by the backing given to Lee Clark’s side during the League I play-off semi-final second leg against Bournemouth at the Galpharm last week.

“Our fans have been incredible all season, but the noise and atmosphere against Bournemouth was fantastic,” said O’Regan, who covered the tie as a BBC Radio Leeds pundit.

“When everyone went running onto the pitch at the end, I watched one of the Bournemouth players going back towards the tunnel.

“He was isolated, with jubilant home fans all around him, but every Town fan who noticed him gave him a pat on the back and said bad luck.

“I thought it was a really tremendous gesture, and the fans were superb, a real credit to the club and to the town.

“To give the Bournemouth players a standing ovation was also a great moment.”
