HUDDERSFIELD Town's out-of-favour winger Lionel Ainsworth could soon be on his way to Hereford United.

Bulls boss Simon Davey has confirmed the two clubs are in discussions about a move for the 22-year-old.

Ainsworth was signed by Hereford in the 07/08 season and made a big impact before being snapped up by Watford, who later loaned him back to the Edgar Street outfit.

Town signed the Nottingham-born midfielder from Watford.

“I’ve spoken to Huddersfield and to Lionel’s representatives and we are trying to sort something out,” said former Barnsley boss Davey.

“We’re not quite there yet but it is somebody we would like to bring in to the football club.

“But, like many transfers, there are a lot of complications in them and this one is complicated.

“Hopefully we can get something done but we have got another one on the go as well which we are probably 95% with, too.

“He is another wide player and so, by Monday, we should have one in.”
