Huddersfield Town have been handed a revenge mission against Brentford at home on the first day of the new season – followed by two massive away games!

Brentford visit the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday, August 6, exactly 91 days after rounding off the last Championship campaign with a crushing 5-1 win at the same venue.

David Wagner’s side then travel to two of the sides relegated from the Premier League – Newcastle United in their first away game on Saturday, August 13, and Aston Villa the following Tuesday.

The first derby against Leeds United is at Elland Road on Saturday, September 10 – that’s the week following the first international break – while the home clash with Leeds is on Saturday, February 4, 2017.

While Town travel to the other relegated side, Norwich City, on the Saturday before Christmas, they are at home on both Boxing day and New Year’s Eve – to Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

And at Easter, Town are at home on the Saturday to Preston North End (April 15, 2017) before travelling to Derby County on Easter Monday (April 17).

Town will finish the campaign at home to Cardiff City on Sunday, May 7 – a match which will have a Noon kick-off.

“It’s a great start for us with being at home to Brentford and then the first away trip is a cracking one to Newcastle United, although it’s a shame from a supporters’ point of view it’s an early one, because quite a few of our fans might still be on holiday,” said Town’s Operations Director Ann Hough.

“I know David (Wagner) will love the fact we’ve got somewhere big for the first away trip – and there is nowhere bigger, really, than Newcastle in the Championship this coming season – and it’s great we’ve got two attractive home fixtures in the festive period, with Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers at the stadium.

“We have got Tuesday-night home and away clashes with Brighton, Rotherham and Aston Villa, but overall we’re quite happy with how the fixtures pan out and it’s nice to be finishing at home as well, with Cardiff City to visit us on the final Sunday.”

Town’s second home game – remember the League Cup is to slot in during the first week of the campaign – is the derby against promoted Barnsley on Saturday, August 20, while Town don’t visit Oakwell until the end of February.

International breaks are September 3, October 8, November 12 and March 25.

Town are at home on Bonfire Day, Saturday November 5, to Birmingham City.

Town’s first ever trip to Burton Albion is on a Tuesday, December 13, while The Brewers come to the John Smith’s on April 1.
