SO HOW many points does it take to ensure Championship survival?

In the past decade, it’s been anything between 43 and 53 – and Huddersfield Town already have 27 from their first 16 games.

Last season, 41 would have done the trick – but only because Portsmouth had 10 points deducted.

Had that not been the case, Barnsley would have gone down despite having 48 points.

Third club relegated and points total over last 10 seasons:

2002-03: Sheffield Wednesday 46;

03-04: Walsall 51;

04-05: Gillingham 50;

05-06: Crewe 42;

06-07: Southend 42.

07-08: Leicester 52;

08-09: Norwich 46;

09-10: Sheffield Wednesday 47;

10-11: Preston 42;

11-12: Portsmouth 40 (after 10pts deduction).
