LEE CLARK has confirmed he is in dialogue with Arsenal about another extension to 17-year-old Benik Afobe's loan stint in West Yorkshire.

Afobe made his 13th Town appearance in Monday’s derby win over Sheffield Wednesday, and Clark continued: “He’s a special talent and an exciting player to work with.

“He certainly likes being here and the fact that Arsenal have already agreed to extend the loan once gives us hope, because we believe he can continue to make a further contribution.”

While midfielder Damien Johnson has undergone surgery on the knee injury which has ended his season prematurely, Clark says the flu bug which has affected a number of his players appears to have disappeared, giving him plenty of options for the third-round tie.

Town have run the rule over Dover, who went fourth in the Conference South after Monday’s 7-1 win at Thurrock, in every game they have played since the draw was made.

Clark has also studied DVDs of their previous games and added: “We’re giving them just as much respect as we did to Everton ahead of our Carling Cup match.

“It’s a classic FA Cup tie, and everyone outside Huddersfield will be hoping to see Dover turn us over.

“We have to ensure that we go about our jobs the right way, because if we don’t, they could take advantage.

“They’ve already beaten two league teams in Gillingham and Aldershot, and in Adam Birchall, who has been scoring goals for fun, they have an obvious talent. He’s already had one go at league football and looks as if he fancies another.

“He’s not the only dangerman though.

“They have some good players throughout the side, many of whom have had experience at league clubs, and we have to be switched on.

“The feeling I have from watching the players in training this week is that we will be, and we’re desperate to be in that fourth-round draw.”

The pairings will be made live on ITV around 3.45 on Sunday.
