Junior football teams in Huddersfield and the wider district are being invited by Town to take part in a tournament at PPG Canalside in May.

It’s now a two-day event on Saturday May 17 and Sunday 18 and it’s for six-a-side teams.

Club ambassador Andy Booth explained they hope the Huddersfield Town Football Tournament will become an annual attraction.

“It’s a great chance for youngsters to play at PPG Canalside, the training facility of our first team and Academy,” said Boothy.

“The tournament is open to Under 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 age groups and the six-a-side teams can have a maximum of two substitutes.

“The Under 7 and 8 age groups will play a friendly tournament and each player will receive a participation medal.”

Town plan to have face painting, appearances by Terry the Terrier and trophy presentations by a Town representative.

Entry fee is £25 per team with places allocated on a first come first served basis.
