TOWN manager Lee Clark is keeping close tabs as striker Lee Novak continues to star with Conference North title chasers Gateshead.

The 20-year-old striker notched his 23rd goal of the season as Gateshead drew 2-2 with Fleetwood Town in midweek, although he did not extend that tally against Stalybridge Celtic even though Gateshead notched a 1-0 win to fire up their promotion push.

Novak signed a three-and-a-half year contract with Town in the January transfer window and was immediately loaned back to the north-east club, who are coming under pressure from Tamworth and Southport for the championship.

"We have had Lee monitored in every game he’s played since he signed for us and he’s been training with us when they haven’t had midweek games," explained Clark.

"I’ve been speaking with Lee and his manager and it’s clear he is really enjoying his football at the moment.

"Gateshead are going well, Lee is continuing to score goals and he’s also enjoying his time here when he comes down to train with the lads.

"He is very much our player and, when the season is over, he will get a summer fitness programme to do so that he’s ready for a full pre-season with us."

STRIKER Danny Broadbent has joined Blue Square North outfit Harrogate Town on loan.

The 19-year-old, who has made just one first team appearance as a substitute, joins the Wetherby Road club for a month, though it is expected that he will remain with them until the end of the season.

It was expected that he would be included in Harrogate’s squad for last night’s home league meeting with Workington.
