GOALKEEPER Matt Glennon could be sidelined for the rest of the season as he went in for surgery on a knee injury today.
The club have determined that the 30-year-old’s problem needed to be addressed and manager Lee Clark said it was the right time to take action.
“Matt is going in for an operation which could potentially keep him out for the rest of the season,” said Clark. “Matt has been very professional and he has trained every day and sitting on the bench for us, but he has a problem with his knee where it meets the thigh muscle and it needs to be sorted out.”
Alex Smithies has recently taken the first team keeping role with former Bolton and Carlisle stopper Glennon acting as matchday cover.
The decision has led to a recall for Simon Eastwood, who had been on loan at Woking.
“Simon played his last game for Woking on Saturday. He will be coming back and we will take things from there.”
