TOWN manager Lee Clark has secured the future of a second talented young goalkeeper.
Just days after signing first choice Alex Smithies until 2013, Clark has ensured Simon Eastwood will remain with the club until the summer of 2011.
The club have also ensured they have an additional option to retain the 19-year-old keeper for a further season.
Eastwood graduated from Town’s academy in 2007 and is a former England under-19 international.
While he is yet to make his first-team debut, Eastwood gained first-team experience during a loan spell with Blue Square Premier side Woking, making 14 appearances for the Kingfield Stadium outfit.
“We kept an eye on Simon during his loan spell at Woking and he did very well,” said Clark.
“It is good to have him back here alongside Alex (Smithies) and I believe he has real potential that can be developed here.
“We are in a lucky position of not only having two young and talented goalkeepers in Alex and Simon, but also having Matt Glennon here.
“He has been a big help and a consummate professional since my arrival.
“It is up to Simon to push Alex for the first-team shirt.”
