KATIE BARNES pounced to give Town ladies a 1-0 win over Hull City in the North East Regional Women’s League Premier Division.

Town dominated possession, but despite many openings could not get the second goal to make the game secure.

Town started strongly took the lead on 15 minutes when Barnes finished well from a Kate Mallin cross.

In the second half Town missed the chance to increase their lead when Emma Poole hit a post from the penalty.

Hull pushed for an equaliser and Town were indebted to keeper Laura Carter.

Town’s next game is on Sunday, January 15, at home (the Welfare Ground, Emley) to Darlington FC Ladies (2.00).

Town girls Under 15s notched a 3-1 win against Howden Clough Juniors, with goals by Aleathia Smith, Abigail Connell and Rebecca Blaeford.
