HUDDERSFIELD Town Ladies crashed out of the FA Cup in the first qualifying round when they went down 3-1 to a strong and skilful Dearne and District Ladies team.

Dearne Ladies started the stronger and if it hadn’t been for some excellent keeping from Laura Carter in Town’s goal they could have been out of sight by half-time. Dearne hit the woodwork twice and Carter made three excellent saves.

Town hoped for something better in the second half, but were undone twice in two minutes when Dearne and District scored in the 48th and 49th minutes.

They went 3-0 up on 55 minutes and it was not until the introduction of Katie Barnes, that Town started to put pressure on Dearne.

Within five minutes of coming on Barnes scored and four minutes later Abbie Iggledon’s strike came back off the upright.

But this was another disappointing display from Town and they must now prepare themselves for the league campaign starting on Sunday with a trip to York City Ladies (2.0).

Town Ladies reserves are away to Brighouse Ladies also on Sunday (2.0).
