THERE will be plenty to play for when Town Ladies finally complete their Northern Women’s Combination campaign on Thursday.

South Durham and Cestria come to Grange Moor (7.15) seeking the victory which would clinch the title ahead of Chorley.

For Town, a win would put them fifth in their first season after winning promotion from the North-East Regional League.

Emily Heckler claimed another hat trick as Town were 3-2 winners in their penultimate game at Mossley Hill, despite heading to Liverpool with only 11 fit players.

A strong start by the visitors brought a third-minute opener from Heckler, who headed home from a corner.

But Mossley Hill controlled midfield for much of the first half and Town keeper Charlotte Oates pulled off a great save.

In the 16th minute Town were saved again when Kate Mallin cleared off the line, but the equaliser came after 25 minutes.

A poor home clearance handed Heckler the chance to quickly restore Town’s lead, but Mossley Hill continued to press and levelled again after 34 minutes.

Town went from two to one up front for the second half in a bid to be more competitive in midfield.

The tactics paid off, and Heckler completed her hat trick just five minutes into the second period with a shot from a neat pass by player of the match Sofie Armitage.

Laura Carter and then Alice Linsell had chances to extend the advantage, but both shot over, while the home side struggled to create any real opportunities.
