TOWN Ladies hope the FA Women’s Cup will provide a pick-me-up after a tough start to the North-East Regional Women’s League campaign.

Second-bottom in the Premier Division after three defeats in as many games, Town head to Rotherham on Sunday (2.00) to take on Dearne and District Ladies in the first qualifying round.

The reserves take on Amaranth at Grange Moor (2.00) aiming to bounce back from a last-gasp 3-2 defeat at Wortley Ladies.

The Leeds side were a constant threat and it took some good saves by Rachel Croft to keep them at bay.

Wortley still managed goals after 30 and 55 minutes but Town hit back with two strikes in as many minutes from Katie Wadworth.

Bianca Pinnock had an 88th-minute goal disallowed before Wortley won it in stoppage time.

Pinnock and Jordaine Allison were voted joint players of the match.

The Under 16s were 4-2 winners at Thornes through Shauna Messenger, Charlotte Thomas, Rebecca Blaeford and Merita Prebrezona.

Appleby Frodingham visit Grange Moor on Sunday (11.00).

The Under 14s head for Oakworth (10.30) after a 3-1 defeat by Wigton Moor in which Rebecca Moore scored. Keeper Seana Potts was player of the match.

The new Under 12 side suffered a 2-0 defeat at Idle, where keeper Zoe Cooke caught the eye and Paris Shingleton was player of the match.

Their next match is against Mapplewell Mavericks at Grange Moor on Saturday (10.30).
