Chapecoense update

Chapecoense defender Helio Neto who survived the plane crash on Tuesday has been told he will be able to play football again after successful surgery to his wrist, knee and lung.

His father is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying:

I can inform with much satisfaction and happiness that my son is getting better and better. They’ve just operated on his legs and the doctors have assured that he will be able to return to playing football.

And AS has reported that defender Alan Ruschel will not require a wheelchair for the rest of his life following surgery on his spine.

The website also reported that Chapecoense goalkeeper Jakson Follmann will not need his left leg amputated. Follmann has already lost his right leg due to the injuries suffered in the accident.

Owen Coyle quotes

The Blackburn boss has been speaking to the club website ahead of the match tomorrow and he’s had some interesting things to say about Town.

We feel we are in a good place in terms of how we are playing and we’ve got to do that now against a good Huddersfield side, a side that has lead the league this season and are still about the play-offs.

I think Huddersfield, like a lot of teams, have spent a lot of money. They’ve brought some very good players into their team. There are one or two that I know because I’ve worked with them, so we know the quality that they have.

They are a very technical team, they like to pass and move the ball, again I think it is a team that will suit our style of play, so we have got to be ready for that but knowing that they have pace and are quick on the counter-attack and they have good players.

So we’ll be ready for that challenge and looking to be at our best in front of our home fans. It is great to be back at Ewood again and we’ll be looking to capitalise on that.

We’ve got to make sure that we are at our best and that means going and getting another positive result on Saturday otherwise you don’t want all of your good work to have gone to waste. So it is important that we continue on the front foot and make sure that we are picking points up week-in, week-out in this tough Championship.
